Candles have been around for hundreds of years and have served their purpose well. However, it’s 2018 and being that your not Abraham Lincoln or Santa Claus, it’s important to be mindful while placing peppermint candles all over your house during the holidays. Sugar and spice may smell nice and add to the holiday ambiance, but candles can also be very dangerous if not properly displayed. Here are some simple safety tips to remember during the holidays.

  1. Always keep a burning candle in sight and extinguish the flame before leaving the room. Never burn a candle while sleeping!
  2. Keep candles away from furniture, bedding, drapes, carpets, books, paper, decorations, and anything that can catch fire. Be mindful of children and pets, and place candles out of harms way.
  3. Always use a candle holder as they should be heat resistant, sturdy, and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax.
  4. Never touch or move a burning candle when the wax is liquid and never burn candles all the way down to the base. Leave enough wax and wick so the holder does not overheat and cause the candle to collapse.
